Integration and derivatives
integ, the integral sign, and deriv. 4 examples.
∞ and inf are the number +∞. 1/∞ is 0, and exp(-∞) is 0. The same symbol is a limit. integ(expression, name, a, b) integrates. The name is the variable of integration and does not become an unknown. a and b may be ∞ or -∞. integhq is the same call, asked more tightly. deriv(expression, name, at) is the derivative at one point. ∫ is the same call as integ. The symbols are on the Notation page.
A definite integral
The area under y = x from 0 to 1 is 1/2.
A derivative
The derivative of x^2 at 3 is 6.
To infinity
∞ is the upper and lower limit. The value is √π.
Dividing by infinity
a is 0 and b is 0. ∞ is a value, not a decoration.
